30/04/2025 - Following its 2024 debut, a new chapter opens in the collaboration between Minotti and Giampiero Tagliaferri: the Libra collection, developed around the concept of balance—a foundational principle in Minotti’s approach, where aesthetics and function work in harmony. The balance is formal, but also perceptual, tactile, and visual.

An architect and interior designer with offices in Milan and Los Angeles, Tagliaferri incorporates diverse cultural references into a coherent design language. The inspiration for the Libra collection draws on 1970s geometry and modernist rigor, reinterpreted through a vocabulary of overlapping full volumes, calibrated proportions, and controlled softness.

The name Libra—Latin for "scale"—suggests a contrast between weight and suspension, mass and lightness. Each piece in the collection operates at this threshold: grounded but never static, present but never overpowering.

Libra Armchair

Referencing 1970s design, the Libra armchair features overlapping soft volumes for the seat, backrest, and headrest. It is upholstered in leather or fabric and accented with central topstitching that emphasizes its tailored, three-dimensional effect. A play of volumetric balances gives the armchair its name.

The gathering along the perimeter of the padded volumes in the bergère, armchair, ottoman, and dining chair is defined by piping, which controls the soft folds of the upholstery and highlights its handcrafted quality. The metal base consists of tubular legs and a curved plate that supports the seat.

The soft, inviting lines extend into the bedroom, where the Libra bed echoes the shapes of the seating elements, adapting them to a more intimate setting. The same rounded, layered volumes of the seat, backrest, and headrest, along with meticulous tailored details, characterize the bed's padding, emphasizing its artisanal crafting.

Key features of this Minotti bed include the spring base supporting the mattress and the detailed piping that defines the gathered perimeter, giving the bed an exceptionally plush feel. The legs are made of tubular metal. Libra is also available as a bedspread in combed wool-blend satin, entirely handmade and enriched with a refined mélange effect that highlights the yarn's natural properties. It is finished with a 6 cm border in the same fabric and color as the bedspread.

Libra Table

The Libra table is distinctly modernist, crafted using complex construction techniques. In the rectangular version, the top in marble, stone, or wood veneer features an inverted "C" cross-section, finished on the short ends with a recessed chrome metal band.

The round version features a gently contoured edge and can include a rotating tray in the same finish as the tabletop, serving as either a functional or decorative element. The legs are constructed from "V"-shaped folded metal or wood veneer plates paired with tubular bases, echoing the aesthetic of the seating family.

Libra Coffee Table

The Libra collection also includes rectangular and square coffee tables with a distinctly modern line. They incorporate structural details that mirror the design and geometry of the dining table.

The top - featuring an inverted "C" section, available in marble, stone, or wood veneer - is enhanced by a recessed chrome metal band along the short sides. The legs consist of polished chrome tubular bases, supporting a metal plate that holds the tabletop, lending the table a visually lightweight appearance.

Libra Sideboard

Defined by clean volumes, reflective surfaces, and measured proportions, the Libra sideboard reflects the aesthetic of the coffee and dining table, sharing the same base design. The inset glass top is back-painted in shades matching the high-gloss lacquered structure, enhancing its reflective three-dimensional quality.
