12/01/2024 - The new Plaza contract furniture collection designed by Marco Piva for Horm is inspired by travel, an urban Capsule Collection that is perfectly suited to both private and public "conviviality".

The Plaza collection narrates a journey, an evocative and metaphorical exploration of European capitals with the aim of reinterpreting their most symbolic urban squares. The square has always been an emblematic place: an outlook of meeting and confrontation, guardian of local historical memories and at the same time promoter of a future with an international scope. «I have always defined myself as “a traveller before being a designer” – says Marco Piva – I love to explore the world, to meeting people and cultures, and to confront myself with different realities. Evoking the journey for the Plaza Collection project has also taken on an emotional connotation for me, recalling the memory of the places that inspired me».
The elegantly shaped itinerary of the Horm team and Marco Piva conforms harmoniously to the most varied living and hospitality contexts, providing a feeling of wellbeing in any situation: from the modern penthouses of Hong Kong's Causeway Bay to the Beaux-Arts style buildings of Paris's Quai Des Orfevres, to the elegant and exclusive restaurants of London's Fifth Street, while maintaining the Italian soul and unmistakable signature of Made in Italy design and manufacture. The objective is quite clear after all: to recreate domestic intimacy and the perception of well-being inside a shared space.
Actually, the Plaza collection consists of tables, seats, cabinets, writing desks and consoles, designed especially for dynamic reception spaces. The conception of each furniture component derives from the territory and from some of the best-known European squares in the collective imagination. Highlights include the Vendome Chair inspired by the famous symmetrical square in Paris, the Consul Impero inspired by the square of the same name in Lisbon, and the Alexander Table - winner of the ADA 2023 - whose Y-shaped articulation recalls Berlin's Alexanderplatz. Every time a visitor stays in the hotels or has a meal in the restaurants and finds a piece of furniture from the Capsula Plaza, they will feel a sense of familiarity with the great European capitals they have visited in the past and that will bring them back home.
The collection's fine finishes are told through warm, bright colours, while the lines are soft and flowing, making every room cosy and pleasant.
