Founded in Denmark in 2013, Gejst is a brand specializing in the design of home accessories, small furniture, decorative objects, and lighting systems. The company stands out for its refined yet essential aesthetic, combining high-quality materials, functionality, and a strong attention to detail. Its design philosophy revolves around the idea of reinterpreting everyday objects in an original and engaging way: each product originates from an analysis of a functional need, then is simplified and transformed into an element with strong aesthetic and sensory impact.

Gejst accessories, furniture and lighting: contemporary Danish design

Among the creations developed by the in-house Gejst Design Team, several pieces stand out for their balance between practicality and compositional precision. Examples include the Sceene modular system, designed to display personal objects and configurable with wooden or fabric panels; the Flex modular shelf, ideal for kitchens or workspaces thanks to its metal structure with interchangeable magnetic accessories; and the Grab paper holder, which elevates a simple domestic item to a design accessory through the use of premium materials like solid wood and leather. Each piece fits seamlessly into both residential and contract interiors, meeting demands for versatility and customization.

The Liris lamp collection: between visual poetry and light engineering

Unveiled at the Danish festival 3daysofdesign, the Liris collection represents a synthesis of traditional craftsmanship, technology, and formal experimentation. The design draws inspiration from paper fans and the leaves of the Licuala orbicularis palm, resulting in a sculptural form that acts both as a reflector and diffuser. The pleated surface of the lampshade, combined with a separate arm holding the LED light source, creates a soft glow with refined chiaroscuro effects. The cylindrical base, available in black or brass, supports an off-centered rod that adds dynamism to the overall structure. Liris fully embodies Gejst’s identity: a brand focused on creating long-lasting products capable of eliciting immediate emotion, without compromising functionality. The cotton-laminated PVC shade responds to the need for lightness, durability, and optimal light diffusion. Each version of the collection is designed to fit into a variety of contexts, from domestic interiors to hospitality spaces, while preserving the distinctive language of the series.
The collection is the result of a collaboration between designers Thalea Schmalenberg and Kasper Friis Egelund, based between Berlin and Copenhagen. The project stems from a research path that began in 2019 at the Royal Danish Academy and culminated in a complete range of table, floor, pendant, and wall lamps, all characterized by a consistent formal language. The duo successfully merged different approaches—interior design and industrial design—to create a product that combines technical performance with visual expressiveness. The table version of the Liris lamp was awarded the 2024 Archiproducts Design Award in the Lighting category for its ability to merge aesthetics, functionality, and material research. A recognition that confirms both the design quality of the collection and the innovative vision of the Danish brand.
