Specialising in
porcelain stoneware kitchen tops, Sapienstone is part of the Italian Iris Ceramica Group. Founded in 2016, the brainchild of Iris Ceramica's founder Romano Minozzi has been an example of Made-in-Italy excellence since its inception. Innovation, quality and craftsmanship are part of the DNA of the group, which boasts over 50 years of experience in the production of ceramic wall tiles. The brand is the first in the world created specifically to produce porcelain stoneware
kitchen worktops whose extraordinary technical performance and great aesthetics place Sapienstone products in the high-end segment, opening to the contract and luxury sectors. Sapienstone tops can withstand the wear and tear of standard kitchen tops and find other applications, including bathrooms, table tops, or other surfaces, both indoors and out.
HAUTE COUTURE SURFACES
The combination of artisanal tradition with contemporary innovation to create unique, timeless surfaces that embody the essence of customized design, redefining the concept of luxury in kitchen and interior design.
Sapienstone, the 'intelligent stone' for durable designer kitchen tops
Sapienstone comes in the form of a slab composed of mineral clays mixed with glass-derived recycled materials. All raw materials are produced in the innovative Castellaro factory in Reggio Emilia, guaranteeing the company total control over the production chain. The slabs, available in different finishes, come in a 320x160 cm format, with thicknesses of 12 or 20 mm and can be cut to the desired dimensions. Thanks to the vein that passes through (4D Ceramics technology) the entire slab, developed for the first time by Sapienstone, the base and surface come in the same colours and textures, making the cut seamless. The technical features are remarkable, providing an entirely new kitchen experience. Heat resistance allows users to place boiling pots and pans directly on the tops; their scratch and abrasion resistance effectively eliminates the need for cutting boards, while hygiene, stain and corrosion resistance make Sapienstone surfaces the perfect worktops for food processing. The classic marble finishes include
Calacatta Light, inspired by precious Carrara marble (also available with a polished finish), or the sumptuous
Dark Marquina, which recalls the famous Spanish Nero Marquina marble. The catalogue offers a range of stone effects in various colours, such as
Luna Limestone and
Quarzite Vals, and concrete, metal and wood effects. Solid-coloured surfaces distinguish the
new collection “Balance”.
Sapienstone technological solutions for the kitchen of the future
Continuous research, a fundamental mission for Sapienstone, has led to unprecedented technological advances for the kitchen of the future. In 2021, the company launched the
Active Surfaces® range, an eco-active surface with exceptional properties deriving from a unique formulation based on titanium dioxide and silver that gives the surface anti-pollution, anti-bacterial, anti-odour and self-cleaning properties. For the moment, Active Surfaces® is available in the
Uni Ice Active, Calacatta Active,
Calacatta Statuario and
Pietra Grey Active finishes. Another revolutionary surface, developed and patented by Iris Ceramica, is
Hypertouch®. Thanks to a millimetric device inserted within the slab, this invisible capacitive technology makes it possible to manage home automation sensors in the room simply by touching the surface. Sapienstone has brought about a revoluction in its ange of large format ceramics, and that it has made significant technological progress, striking the perfect balance between aesthetics, design, emotion, and technical ceramics (porcelain stoneware) performance. This project was born out of a specific entrepreneurial vision, which has opened up a new dimension for matter: the fourth dimension (4D), where the three “spatial” dimensions are combined with the fourth dimension, i.e. sustainable technology, which creates a living material that embodies the Group’s core values.
