SENTOU, designer, editor and distributor of Design since 1947. The story begins in 1947, when Robert Sentou founded his first workshop in the South of France. There, he produced furniture for the most talented designers, architects and decorators of the time, who were looking for manufacturers, such as Roger Fatus, Georges Candilis, Lionel Morgaine, Etienne Fermigier, Roger Landault and Marc Berthier.
An opportunity for Robert Sentou to manufacture Charlotte Perriand's straw-bedecked chair collection, as she sought a workshop capable of producing her creations for her many projects in the booming winter sports resorts. Or to design and manufacture Georges Candilis' furniture for the seaside resorts of Port-Leucate and Port-Barcarès, and that of Louison Bobet's Thalassa hotels, as well as the furniture for Roger Fatus's Grand Paradis hotel, alpine residence of the legendary Bluebell Girls.
Robert Sentou opened his first boutique in Paris in 1977, where he began marketing his own editions. Sentou was thus manufacturer, publisher and retailer all rolled into one, giving him a special place in the French contemporary furniture landscape. In collaboration with designer Roger Tallon and interior architect Roger Fatus, Robert Sentou imagines the innovative concept of Sentou galerie, a new type of sales outlet aimed primarily at decorating professionals, for whom he offers furniture designed by designers and the service of being able to make custom orders.
Joined in 1991 by Pierre Romanet, designer and new artistic director of the brand, Sentou takes on a new impetus while remaining faithful to its historical roots and its DNA strongly attached to the quality and authenticity of its creations.
Sentou invents an original and colorful art of living, where furniture and objects are not simply beautiful, but endearing, modern and poetic. Born of travels and encounters, they are selected for their meaning and their story, big or small.
Today, SENTOU continues its publishing activity, distributing exclusively Roger Tallon's creations, including the iconic M400 aluminum staircase, ZOMBIE seats, TS folding chairs, the Cryptogamme stool collection, as well as Studio SENTOU creations and selections.
This momentum confirms the motivation and vitality of Pierre Romanet and Romain Luret to anchor Sentou firmly in today's world of design and Art de Vivre.
